On a sunny afternoon in mid-August, a few days before the end of the Intensive English summer session, our students had the opportunity to go to Cidercade. It was a great chance to de-stress and have some fun to start the weekend!

When classes ended for the day, our Intensive English students made their way to Cidercade, which is located near Downtown Houston in the EaDo District. With hundreds of different retro and sports games to play, the arcade offered a perfect escape from the summer heat.

One of the many games students enjoyed was air hockey. You can find this classic game at most arcades, and it always inspires competition. Our Intensive English students were eager to compete against each other to see who would be the best air hockey player!

Cidercade also has food and drinks, featuring pizzas and snacks like hot dogs and quesadillas. This gave students a great opportunity to take a break between games and eat a delicious lunch.

After an exciting few hours, the students got together to decide which games they liked best. Several mentioned that they enjoyed Guitar Hero, while others loved racing against each other in Mario Kart. A few students rode motorcycles together on a virtual track game. Everyone agreed that the many pinball machines were a favorite, too.

As the afternoon progressed, our students continued gaming and got their fill of excitement and friendly competition. It was soon time to head home, however, and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
