Each November, during the week before Thanksgiving, we celebrate the cultural diversity of our students during International Education Week. To end the week this year, we hosted a cozy coffee break right after classes finished for the day.
In the upstairs lounge, students were met with a colorful display of flags from countries all over the world and quickly tried to find their own. To add to the excitement, students also brought snacks and drinks from their home countries, each contributing to the delicious variety of food and beverages.
Students enjoyed several international cuisines, adding both sweet and savory snacks to their plates. To drink, a selection of pecan-flavored coffee was offered alongside tea and lemonade.
Once they had taken their seats, students practiced their English among themselves and learned more about their classmates’ different cultures. Throughout the afternoon, there was lively conversation, tasty snacks and coffee, and a wonderful festive ambiance!
The fun continued with our annual International Education Week crossword contest. With two prizes to win, students rushed to fill out their crossword puzzles correctly and accurately. Several students handed in their completed puzzles after finding the last clue in one of our social media posts from earlier in the week.
While all of the students were able to finish the puzzle with no mistakes, there could only be two winners. The first-placed student won a festive mug to enjoy their hot drinks, and the second-placed student won a snack bucket and cup to enjoy cozy movie nights during the winter.
Thank you once more for reading this blog post. While our cozy coffee break was the last social activity of the year for our Intensive English student, we’ll start again in January with more exciting activities and blog posts to read.
